Journalists, politicians and authorities of the sectors of leather and footwear attended the ceremony of launch of the World Leather Congress and the World Footwear Congress, during Francal Fair, in São Paulo. The event was held recently, at the VIP area of the fair. Organizers explained details of both congress, that will occur at the Sofitel Copacabana, in Rio de Janeiro, on November 7 and 8, 2011 (footwear), and November 9, 2011 (leather.)
Francisco Santos, the president of Couromoda Fair, wich is participating on the organization of both events, opened the session with Abdala Jamil Abdala, president of Francal. Francisco said how important it will be to have two congress, with close themes, happening at the same time in Brazil. “We will have international leaders, big foreign groups and specialists. We have to show themthat leather and footwear are doing great and have a great future forward in Brazil”, he said. Abdala said how proud the country may be to receive both events in November and, from now on, the world will be focusing Brazil.
Wolfgang Goerlich, president of ICT and executive president of CICB, said that the World Leather Congress acquires an extra importance as it is held, on the very same week and at the same venue of the World Footwear Congress. “There won’t be anything similar in a long time. The fact that the WLC will be held in conjunction with the WORLD FOOTWEAR CONGRESS turns this double event into an unprecedented and unique occurrence”, he said
The cerimony had the following presences: Augusto Sampaio Coelho (president of board of directors of CICB), Elivir Desiam (president of Fenac), Moacir Berger (president of AicSul), Cristiano Körbes (projects coordenator of Abicalçados), Ilse Maria Biason Guimarães (Assintecal), Roberto Kamelman (president of Abqtic), Peter Mangione (Global Footwear Partnership), Tarcísio Zimmermann (mayor of Novo Hamburgo/RS), Ronaldo Zulke (congressman), Carlos Eduardo Gusmão (Grupo Editorial Sinos) e José Carlos Brigagão do Couto (president of Sindifranca and Comcouro).
